A cobweb in the corner of my mind
A faded black and white photo
The memory lingers for a little while
This ghost of my not so recent past
I pay a visit to my younger self
"hello...how have you been?"
Maybe I'll give myself some advice
To this ghost of my not so recent past
It is nice to visit the past for a short time
But my present self pulls me back
Brushing aside that cobweb in the corner
Of the ghost of my not so recent past.

This I like. And this I believe. Our past selves are indeed ghosts and we can revisit them. Whether they scare us or not is another matter.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your ghost verse. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteA memory is indeed a ghost, subtle, hovering at the back of one's mind, and always coming back to haunt us again. But it may also be a very welcome ghost. Nice poem.
