The Frosty Morn

My world is covered
In a thick layer of frost
The grass, the trees
Cars and roof tops

The sky is milky white
A light misty haze
Sunlight streaks the sky
With orange pink rays

I saw this while driving
I wanted to stop and see
Get out my new camera
But it wasn’t meant to be

So the picture remains
Still pretty in my mind
I continued down the road
And left it far behind.

The Delivery

They tremble beneath her gentle touch
Words cannot be spoken
They feel her delicate breath upon their faces
The words speak emotion
An arrangement worthy of display

Their delicious colour awakens her senses
Violet eyes are misty
A tear drop slides down a painted cheek
So soft, so silky
It is sweet, yet salty as it meets her lips

A handwritten card has a message
What does it say?
She reads it slowly and then closes her eyes
The tear gets wiped away
As she tenderly lifts each one out to hold

“Shall we dance?” she asks playfully
Stand tall and stand proud
Their faces release into precious smiles
Raindrops fall upon their brow
She stands back, admiring.

The Visit

Along the coast is a small shanty town
Enchanting scenes are all around
The waves are crashing along the shore
Cobblestone streets lined with tiny stores
The smell of the salt air tickles my nose
It’s misty, cold and damp through my clothes
I make my way to the Fish ‘n Chips shop
To the two-bedroom apartment situated on top
A young girl I know and her man live up there
I open the door and go up the flight of stairs

The place is quaint but it is quite small
Yellow paint is peeling on all the walls
The floors are hardwood, worn and old
But it’s warm and cozy when it gets cold.
Chenille blankets decorate each bed
Bright and cheerful with colourful thread
A fireplace in the corner, a weaving loom
A blue velvet sofa is in the living room
An antique table with four wood chairs
A bowl on the table with apples and pears
You can see the ocean from their window
It’s secrets, stories within it’s dark indigo

She sits in a chair to warm by the fire
Humming a song, a tune she admires
The kettle is boiled for a hot cup of tea
She smiles a lot because she is happy
Soup on the stove, its aroma fills the air
The baby cries now…there, there, there
Her daughter now rests upon her hip
Loving comfort words reach her lips
Kisses against a chubby cheek
Rubbing the soles of her little feet
Hugs and kisses make it all right
She’s so sweet, the dear little sprite.

Her man works hard, they don’t have much
She looks after the home and other stuff
There is food on the table every day
They are content despite what people say
We share some words and a cup of tea
It’s nice to see her and she embraces me
I am satisfied she is safe and sound
She appears to be on solid ground
As long as she’s happy, I’m happy too
I hope to visit again, sometime very soon
Now it’s time to go and be on my way
I put on my coat, I’ll be back some day.

In the Blink of an Eye

You hold your baby in your arms
Loving, tender and holding her tight
She is magical and you are charmed
Blink yer eye – a woman overnight!

Diapers turn into thong underwear
Boyfriends, girlfriends and mascara
You look at her closely, but not to stare
Where did the time go my little Sarah?

All grown up and now a young woman
Crayons give way to lap top computers
The nursery is now an apartment in Brooklyn
Yucky boys have turned into cute suitors

The crib is replaced with the marriage bed
Her once flat belly is now big and round
Nine months go fast, she’s looking ahead
She feels the pain, the baby has crowned

So now…..

She holds her baby in her arms
Loving, tender and holding her tight
She is magical and she is charmed
Blink an eye – a woman overnight

Christmas Morn

It is 7 o’clock in the morning
Everyone is still asleep
The house is very quiet
Except for my pen…scratching along this sheet

Apples, pears and angels
Adorn our Christmas tree
The lights are twinkling softly
With pink roses in between

The gifts have gathered
Underneath the tree
Waiting to be opened
Gifts for my family and me

The coffee is brewing
Sweetbread sliced for toast
Being with my family
Is what I love the most

Soon the house will be filled
With the scent of holiday cheer
Together we will enjoy this day
A celebration to embrace each year

I am blessed to have such presence
To have and hold each day
My guides and angels support me
I’m delighted they want to play

Merry Christmas to all
Much peace, hugs and kisses
Be good to ourselves and each other
May the new year bring more riches
