Garden Fairies

There are fairies in my garden
They’re really rather small
I hear them whisper secrets
At my waterfall

Sometimes I hear them giggling
Amongst the bushes rose
Around the dogwood thicket
Tickling tiny toes

Grumpy gnomes are snoring
Inside their mushroom homes
Blushing girls and handsome boys
In their fancy clothes

They peer into my gazing balls
Up close with one big eye
Toothy grins and double chins
It seems they’re not too shy

She waltz’s with orange flowers
He salsas with impatiens
They rumba with the sunflowers
Staked along the fence

A young boy flirts with Coral Bells
He kisses her petals tender
She embraces his attentions
Until his love surrenders

They’re friendly to all the insects
They lead the choir of birds
They especially like my spider
That helps me write my words

Their pretty wings are fluttering
In the light of the golden sun
They spread their magic fairy dust
With exuberance and fun

The fairies live in my garden
How do I know they do?
As long as love resides there
They’re in your garden too.

The Brown Beauty of Spring

There is this BROWN transition at the beginning of spring.  As I anticipate the warmer weather and no more snow.... I see beauty in brown.

Branches wait to bloom spring colours
Roused by a sleepy sun
Open hearts and open windows
Winter’s time is almost done
Now nurture us with your brown beauty

Here are some beautiful brown things:

good morning!

Chocolate covered cherries!

Beautiful Angels!

Big brown leaves that protect our gardens.

My brown cat George....yaow!

An empty nest....waiting for spring.

They Call Me Ugli

They may call me Ugli
I ignore what they may say
Inside counts without a doubt
I’m beautiful inside and out

Look at me – I’m beautiful
Freshly plucked and fresh
Fingers eagerly remove my peel
My inner sweetness revealed

I’m opened wide for all to see
She puts me in her mouth
Bursting inside like a solar eclipse
She tastes my juice upon her lips

I am a Wildflower

I am a wildflower
I am different

I was once an addict.
To pesticides.
After a solitary intervention
I moved to another place
Where I would be free to live clean.
No pesticides for me.

One day after my recovery
I noticed a beautiful rock
Laying next to me.
He looked at me
With such gentleness
That I wilted with joy.

I call him My Rock.
My Rock comforts me
When the sun goes down.
He holds me in his arms
And speaks to me with such tenderness
That I blossom a million blossoms

When my petals fall
He is there to hold them.
When I feel sad or lonely
He is there.
When I am naked to the elements
He is there protecting me.

He tells me he loves me.
I am nourished by this sentiment.
He feeds my soul.
He is my best friend.
My Rock.
He loves me because I am me.

I am a wildflower
I am different
I am free

Interview with a Butterfly

I flutter about, from one to another
Then I see you from afar
I am attracted to your vibrant colour.
I hover for a brief moment
Then rest upon your newly opened bud.
I let the sun warm my weary wings
As I drink the sweet nectar of your expression

The pollen from another is sticky on my feet
I need to infuse you with these seeds
So you will reproduce and feed me once more
I wish I could be faithful to you only
But you know I have to kiss another to live.

So to remember me, my love
I leave a special gift for you
Underneath your tender green leaf
A gift endearing from my heart
I offer you a silken purse
Filled with faces just like mine.

The Frosty Morn

My world is covered
In a thick layer of frost
The grass, the trees
Cars and roof tops

The sky is milky white
A light misty haze
Sunlight streaks the sky
With orange pink rays

I saw this while driving
I wanted to stop and see
Get out my new camera
But it wasn’t meant to be

So the picture remains
Still pretty in my mind
I continued down the road
And left it far behind.
