The Concert

I pour myself a glass of wine
Turn on my favourite music
Let the water cleanse my soul
I’m going to a concert

Apply foundation to my face
Add some cheeky blush
Eyes are lined and lashes done
I’m going to a concert

I slip into my skinny jeans
Add a sexy top
Zip up my tall brown boots
I’m going to a concert

Sing along to all the words
Bodies moving to the music
The bass is thumping, hearts are thumping
In the middle of the concert

Lowest of the Low - April 2, 2011

Strip off the date night clothes
Let loose the swollen member
Unleash my impassioned soul
In the middle of our concert

Your inner house is burning down
Your thoughts are crumbling all around
As you step through the broken wreckage
Your heart is stumbling to find the message

And out of the darkness you will rise
With a heart wide open and eyes open wide

Like a forest fire inside your heart
When it seems like all is lost and life restarts
Your human soul is thoroughly cleansed
So a garden of love can grow again

And out of the darkness you will rise
With a heart wide open and eyes open wide

When you’re blinded by a veil of tears
And you are gripped by unshaken fears
Receive the gifts of betrayal and lies
It’s the greatest gift of love disguised

And out of the darkness you will rise
With a heart wide open and eyes open wide

Listening to the Sunset

Green, yellow, red and black
These are the colours of Jamaica
Guitar, drums and voice
Playing old Bob Marley songs
As the sun sets in the west

The clouds are shaped like an angel's wings
As the sun dips below her heart
This magical moment on the beach
The last sunset before we depart

The Delivery

They tremble beneath her gentle touch
Words cannot be spoken
They feel her delicate breath upon their faces
The words speak emotion
An arrangement worthy of display

Their delicious colour awakens her senses
Violet eyes are misty
A tear drop slides down a painted cheek
So soft, so silky
It is sweet, yet salty as it meets her lips

A handwritten card has a message
What does it say?
She reads it slowly and then closes her eyes
The tear gets wiped away
As she tenderly lifts each one out to hold

“Shall we dance?” she asks playfully
Stand tall and stand proud
Their faces release into precious smiles
Raindrops fall upon their brow
She stands back, admiring.

In the Blink of an Eye

You hold your baby in your arms
Loving, tender and holding her tight
She is magical and you are charmed
Blink yer eye – a woman overnight!

Diapers turn into thong underwear
Boyfriends, girlfriends and mascara
You look at her closely, but not to stare
Where did the time go my little Sarah?

All grown up and now a young woman
Crayons give way to lap top computers
The nursery is now an apartment in Brooklyn
Yucky boys have turned into cute suitors

The crib is replaced with the marriage bed
Her once flat belly is now big and round
Nine months go fast, she’s looking ahead
She feels the pain, the baby has crowned

So now…..

She holds her baby in her arms
Loving, tender and holding her tight
She is magical and she is charmed
Blink an eye – a woman overnight
